All considered ‘YTF heavy-weights’ with their own camp of fans.
However, Yong Xiang Xing Dou Fu 永祥興豆腐 enjoys the longest queue and also the shortest opening hours.
This YTF stall only opens for 3 hours a day, starting from 1pm (closed on Mondays).
You may already find a small queue forming even before its official opening hour.
Here’s how it works: when you reach your turn in the queue, you can choose to takeaway or dine-in (this is for pre “Circuit Breaker” and “Phase 1” days).
If you are taking-away, you wait to the left, to the left; otherwise tell them your table number and you will be served. Fast and efficient.
Note: you cannot choose your items as well.
Yong Xiang Xing Dou Fu only has one choice on their menu and they do full justice with it, whether it is the freshness and generosity of ingredients or the delicate and perfect balance of flavours.
You may want to know that their Yong Tau Foo with Soup ($4.50) comes served without any heavy carbs like noodles or bee hoon.
I found it a great option for those who are looking for something low carbs and low calories for lunch.
The soup while light, was surprisingly ”qing” and tasty.
There are a couple of fixed items within from fishballs, fried beancurd skin, soft beancurd to deep-fried bean curd.
This is one of those bowls when I found almost every piece very delicious, but they do lean to the saltier side.
But if I need to choose, deep-fried bean curd was my favourite ingredient.
It came complete with a beautiful golden-brown exterior, along with a great tasting tofu in silky consistency that melts in your mouth. The contrast made the piece delicately delicious.
