Shake Shack at Vivocity: Waterfront Views and Sugee Concrete!

Shake Shack’s fifth outlet in Singapore opened 1 Dec 2020 at Vivocity. I came back a couple more times because this is one of the nicest locations they have. They sure are expanding quickly but I think they have what it takes to tackle the insatiable demand for good burgers here. Look how hearty the food is. For just a few dollars more, you get way better fare than the “fancier” creations at commonplace fast food chains. As you know, Shake Shack will introduce something new at each launch. Every outlet also has some exclusive concrete (frozen custard blend). In this case, it’s the Sugee Boogie concrete designed in collaboration with the talented duo of Jeremy Nguee and his mom. Both of them run Mrs Kueh, which offers delectable local kuehs done to highly exacting standards. The signature vanilla custard cream from Shake Shack gets blended with Mrs Kueh’s Orange Citrus Sugee Cake and sprinkled with orange zest, and topped with more pieces of the sugee cake. Think orange ice cream cake on steroids. This is probably best when shared, as the whole bowl might be overwhelming.   The other concrete is Viva La Vivo, made of vanilla custard, strawberries, sugar cone shards and rainbow sprinkles. It’s like what a unicorn would cough up. Tastewise, it’s somewhat plain but pleasant. Simple, familiar and comforting, you know?  The burgers are the same. Here is the Smoke Shack with double patty; it’s got applewood smoked bacon and chopped cherry peppers which are really tangy (maybe a bit too much). We also like the Shack Stack, the cheeseburger+shroom burger (portobello patty) combo (see second photo above). I do have to say the waterfront location is bomb. With the floor to ceiling glass walls, you command a great view of the sea and Sentosa island across it. The alfresco area lets you enjoy your food with the balmy breeze. SHAKE SHACK1 Harbourfront Walk #01-163/164 VivoCity Singapore 098585Open daily 10am to 10pm Many thanks to Shake Shack for the preview invitation.
