“Do you want to go Naked?”
”What?”

Before you start thinking wrong, Naked Ice Cream is a new ice cream parlour in the hot foodie stretch of Kovan, lined with popular joints such as Breakfast Club, Yaowarat Thai Kway Chap, Ding Tele, Punggol Nasi Lemak, and Qi Xiang Chicken Pot.

Not forgetting there are already ice cream competitors SugarTree Gelato, The Humble Scoop, Ice Edge Café, Udders Ice Cream, and Lickers not far away.

The plus points of Naked Ice Cream other than the cheeky name: it is opened till 2AM every day for supper goers, and the plain waffles is priced at $3.80 – considered more affordable than many new cafes.

On its menu are classic ($3.80) and premium flavours ($4.80) such as Speculoos Cookies Butter, Mint Cookie Chip, Hojicha Green Tea, Strawberry Cheese Cake, Earl Grey Tea, Milo Dinosaur, Cookie Monster, Lychee Lime, and Hokkaido Milk.

Nothing very out of the ordinary.

So I went for the more interesting sounding Yubari Rock Melon with a delightful fruity sweetness, though I wished it was either creamier or more ‘sorbet-y’ while this was somewhere in middle.

The Pistachio ice cream could have been less sweet (maybe 20% at least) for the natural nuttiness to be more pronounced – this is what people like about Pistachio ice cream I would assume.

Similarly, the Hojicha ice cream could do with less sweetness, to better bring out the roasted tea flavour. Also this was not entirely smooth-creamy, as there were some ice bits I tasted in between.

The consolation was, the waffle which was served in options of plain ($3.80) or ($4.80), came in two easy-to-manage pieces with light crispiness, buttery-ness and fluffy texture in between.

If you are looking at quenching your thirst, available are Ribena with Lychee Pop ($5.80), Tropical with Lychee Pop, and variety of tea and coffee.

All-in-all, not bad waffles, standard ice cream quality, and friendly pricing. And oh, they have both indoor and outdoor seating.
