Tucked away in the quiet surroundings of The Summit, Bukit Timah, a new kid in the neighbourhood looks to inject quality and transform the way we view western cuisine.
Think Apple Glazed Chicken Chop, Chicken Chop with Confit Garlic and Duck Confit, without breaking your bank.
Chicky’s Western, 469 Bukit Timah Road
Located at The Summit, 469 Bukit Timah Road, Chicky’s Western stall brings a new twist to the way we perceived western food by steering away from the usual chicken chop and fries that we are so used to having.
While the stall is located at a convenient location for National University of Singapore (NUS) students in the Law Faculty and students from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, it is also open to the public who wish to satisfy their hunger after a walk at the Botanic garden.
What We Tried at Chicky’s Western
We took a swipe at their Double Up Chicken Set which comes with their popular Apple Glazed Chicken Chop and Chicken Chop with Confit Garlic.
The chef also kindly offered us their speciality, Duck Fat Potatoes, which are potatoes roasted in duck fat till they have this incredibly thick, golden-brown crust and unbelievable crunch. The flavour of the duck fat also gets infused into the potato, something which can never be achieved using oil.
The Chef Behind Chicky’s Western
Chicky’s Western’s menu is the brainchild of Chef Dylan Huang.
Dylan begins his career at Mandarin Hotel before moving on to Savuer Group’s Concetto in the year 2014, where he strengthened his craft in Italian Cuisine.
He then spent 3 years in Brunches Cafe specialising in Intercontinental breakfast & Western Eastern Fusion.
Dylan, together with his partners, Jeff Ong, Ashley Quek and Ming Feng, noticed a gap between quality and affordable western cuisine in local heartland settings. This got the team excited to inject a fresh concept into the local food scene while keeping the cost relatively low.
Chicky’s Western’s Menu
As the name suggests, Chicky’s specialises in chicken chops and cutlet with a modern uplift to the flavours of these chicken chops.
Apart from the Apple Glazed Chicken Chop and Chicken Chop with Confit Garlic, adventurous foodies can also check out their Chicken Chop with Ghost Pepper Mayo.
Fans of fried food can look to satisfy your cravings with their TJ Chicken Cutlet which is a Chicken Cutlet marinated in Soya beancurd.
The ones we use to go with our porridge.
On their menu is also Duck Leg Confit which you can pair with mashed potato or waffles!
